Stating that it was boycotting the July 3 MLC election from the local bodies quota, YSRC on Tuesday said that the Telugu Desam had purchased 35 MPTCs in the Prakasam district. The decision to boycott the MLC polls in by the YSRC is to register its protest against Telugu Desam leaders who allegedly purchased party electors and shifted them to a camp to capture their vote.

As the TD does not have the numbers to win the polls, they lured YSRC MPTCs by offering money and shifted them to their camp in Nellore, said YSRC Party MP YV Subba Reddy. The memorandums have already been submitted by the YSRC to Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan, Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwarlal, MLC election returning officer Dr M. Hari Jawaharlal and have not received any response yet.
