The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet which met in Rajahmundry on Wednesday approved the master plan submitted by the Singapore team for the new capital – Amaravati.

The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet which met in Rajahmundry on Wednesday approved the master plan submitted by the Singapore team for the new capital – Amaravati.


The Cabinet in the wake of the Pushkaram stampede has passed a resolution condoling the death of 27 devotees at the Pushkar Ghat on the first day of Pushkaram and decided to hold an inquiry into the incident.


The first phase of the Capital is expected to be completed by 2018 and the Cabinet has decided to raise funds through Swiss Challenge mode and public-private partnership.


The Cabinet session also held discussions on the Municipal staff strike, shifting of Government offices to Guntur and Vijayawada from Hyderabad and releasing agricultural input subsidy of Rs 690 crores for the kharif season - 2014. Also, a "Godavari pushkar garden" will be developed on 260 acres at Diwancheruvu near Rajahmundry.
