Tardy performers to face Naidu’s wrath
Hyderabad: A survey undertaken up by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu recently has exposed the poor performance of some ministers in the Cabinet. Naidu according to insiders is likely to confront the ministers with his survey report during the Cabinet meeting that would take place at Vijayawada on Friday.
The Chief Minister is said to be of the opinion that there was lack of coordination among the ministers and that they were spending more time in touring the State and had failed to come to grips with the department and effectively monitor various schemes that are under implementation even after one year in office.
During an informal meeting with the ministers on Wednesday, Naidu is said to have told them that he was not happy with the implementation of various schemes particularly those of the social welfare department. The weaker sections of the society are the back bone of the party and the government at any cost has to effectively implement the promises it had made during the elections.
But the concerned ministers had so far failed to live up to the expectations. “The efforts you had put in are not enough , more needs to be done and you need to pull up your socks,” he is said to have told them. According to sources, the survey was reportedly carried out under the supervision of a key official close to the Chief Minister.
The survey is said to have indicated that even the number of admissions in social residential welfare schools was not up to the mark. There has also been delay in the construction of school buildings, the food supplied was of poor quality and that there was inadequate teaching staff.
As a result all this has been affecting the education system and has caused a dent in the efforts to give a fillip to encourage entrepreneurship among the weaker sections. Naidu is also said to have expressed concern over the BC Welfare Department, for failing to take the initiatives of the government among the people.
Naidu also asked the rural development department speed up rural water supply and development schemes. The survey has also named the mines and geology and forestry department as low performing.
