Rajahmundry: Instead of a job they were promised, the victims received fake air ticket to Malaysia and a fake offer letter for a job in that country. With complaint of victims from Kerala, a case was registered against two local agents in Rajahmundry for duping two youth after luring them with jobs in Malaysia.

Mridul Mohan and Vignesh from Palakkad, who lodged a complaint with the police on Thursday night, alleged that they were cheated by two agents, Manoj and Siddharth. The police booked case against the accused under IPC Section 420, 471 read with 34. The victims told police that Rs 45, 000 was paid for each job in Malaysia.

South Zone DSP K Sravani formed special teams to nab the culprits and the linchpin behind this racket, which may have several other victims. According to police, Mridul Mohan and Vignesh are working in a software centre called Qualitrain Solutions in Palakkad owned by Mridul Mohan’s family friend Unnikrishnan.

It was on advice of Unnikrishnan, the two applied for jobs in ‘Malaysian Investment Development Authority’ (MIDA). The victims got offers as accountant (Tally), draughtsman (CAD) and safety officer (first aid) with the qualifications of pre-degree and degree respectively with a salary offer of 3,400 to 4,200 Malaysian Ringgits, which will be equal to Rs 55, 000 to Rs 68,0000 respectively.

Regarding the joining formalities, the so-called HR manager of MIDA advised the victims that Manoj and Siddharth would mediate in India on behalf of him. As per their directions, Mridul Mohan and Vignesh came to Rajahmundry on August 4 on and were kept in a by the accused. They were taken to GSL Medical College for check-up and were asked to pay Rs 13,000 each for flight ticket and deposit Rs 32,000 each in the Axis Bank account of one Prakash Blewal, their agent.

Siddharth handed air rickets of Malaysian Airlines on Wednesday, which were found to be fake and the offer letter also seems to be prepared by the accused. The accused even promised to take them to Chennai and assured that he will send them to Malaysia on August 17, but did not turn up that evening and the mobile numbers of both were switched off. Police are investigating and are searching for Manoj and Siddharath who posed as front office of MIDA in Rajahmundry.
