Flood level in Godavari is rising at Sir Arthur Cotton barrage and the irrigation authorities are discharging nearly 5 lakh cusecs of water into the sea by lifting all crest gates on Monday. The water level recorded atDowleswaram was 13.41 feet on Monday evening. It may start receding from Tuesday as the water level is coming down in catchment areas of the river.

Rajahmundry: Flood level in Godavari is rising at Sir Arthur Cotton barrage and the irrigation authorities are discharging nearly 5 lakh cusecs of water into the sea by lifting all crest gates on Monday. The water level recorded atDowleswaram was 13.41 feet on Monday evening. It may start receding from Tuesday as the water level is coming down in catchment areas of the river.


The water level receded from 6.38 ft to 6.25 at Kaleswaram, from 8.73 ft to 8.47 ft at Peruru, from 32.30 feet to 31.20 at Bhadrachalam and from 11.70 ft to 11.42 ft at Kunavaram. The level at Koida came down from 15.54 ft to 15.24 ft and from 10.53 ft to 10.40 ft at Polavaram.


Meanwhile, rainfall of 2070 mm has been recorded in East Godavari district in the last 24 hours with an average of 32 mm. Maximum rainfall of 108 mm has been recorded Annavaram mandal.
