Rajahmundry: Two-wheeler riders must wear helmets from November 12 since Supreme Court has directed the State government to implement the rule immediately, Minister for Transport, Roads and Buildings Sidda Raghava Rao said here on Monday.

Though the government was thinking of extending the deadline up to January next year, he said, but it became inevitable in the wake of the ruling from Apex Court, and urged riders to wear helmet with ISI mark.

Speaking to reporters, the Minister said that the beautification of all bus stations would be taken up in the State and the development works would be taken up on BOT system in large RTC sites and said that steps are being taken to operate RTC buses to every village.

He announced that bus complex with 100 platforms would be developed in temple town of Tirupati and steps are also being taken to develop bus complexes in Guntur, Vijayawada and Vizag. He explained that 88 per cent of Aadhar seeding has been completed in eight depots and said that transport and police departments would maintain vigil on main rods to curb vehicles with heavy loading.
