Addressing a press conference here along with APKRS State vice-president K Srinivas, the general secretary said that because of heavy rains, the paddy, cotton, black gram, groundnut, banana, tomato, maize and vegetable crops have severely damaged in the State.

A large chunk of cultivated area is looked after by tenant farmers in the State, he said and added that they were in doldrums. He demanded the government to take up specific steps to save the farmers and tenant farmers in the State immediately. He also demanded the government to deploy enumeration teams to assess the crop loss in various flood-affected districts.

Srinivas demanded the government to purchase the discoloured and soaked paddy from the farmers. He also demanded that the government relax the rules for purchasing the damaged paddy immediately. The leaders showed the drenched paddy sheaves to the media on the occasion.
