District Collector Siddarth Jain said that the relief and rehabilitation works are in full swing in rain-affected areas in the district. Speaking to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu through video conferencing at the Collectorate on Saturday, the Collector said that the district administration has been taking relief efforts in an effective way in the rain-hit places. He informed Chief Minister that officials concerned are distributing ex gratia and relief material for flood victims.

Chittoor: District Collector Siddarth Jain said that the relief and rehabilitation works are in full swing in rain-affected areas in the district. Speaking to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu through video conferencing at the Collectorate on Saturday, the Collector said that the district administration has been taking relief efforts in an effective way in the rain-hit places. He informed Chief Minister that officials concerned are distributing ex gratia and relief material for flood victims.
The Collector brought to the notice of Chandrababu that a comprehensive report on rain loss amounting to Rs 399 crore was submitted to the Commissioner for Disaster Management to sanction the same for taking up relief works. He said that rice was distributed to 18,594 rain-affected families and ex gratia of Rs 5 lakh was handed over to the kin of 33 persons.
Siddarth Jain further informed the Chief Minister that there were no lapses on the part of officials in taking up relief operations. Chandrababu instructed Jain to keep a special watch on the schools running in old buildings as a girl student killed recently after the school building collapsed in Gurramkonda mandal. Jain told the Chief Minister that he instructed the District Educational Officer to close unrecognised schools which lack minimum facilities.
Chandrababu directed the Collector to undertake road repair works on priority basis and restore power supply to all rain-hit villages. DRO L Vijay Chander, Chief Planning Officer Bhaskar Sarma and other district officials were also present.
