Huge haul of explosives

Atmakur: The police on Friday night seized a huge dump of explosives estimated to be worth Rs 10 lakh and arrested two persons. They confiscated a four-wheeler in which the explosives were being transported. Atmakur Deputy Superintendent of Police Supraja told the media that the police had confiscated 1,260 gelatine sticks, 1,650 detonators, 180 electric busters besides 1,200 fuse wires. She had chased down the vehicle carrying the dump. Drivers Sarvesh and Srinvasulu were arrested. She praised CI Diwakar Reddy and SI Ramesh Kumar, besides their staff, for the seizure.
The seized items were learnt to be transported from Hasinapuram near Kurnool. Although it was said that the explosives were required at the Dornala Veligonda project, doubts have been expressed why such huge quantities were moved through the Nallamala area.
