Anti-Zamindari Movement opposed anti-poor policies

Fighters of anti-Zamindari movement in the form of Srikakula Sayudha Rythanga Poratam in two phases from 1958 to 1967 and from 1967 to 1973 had opposed the government policies against poor. Srikakulam: Fighters of anti-Zamindari movement in the form of Srikakula Sayudha Rythanga Poratam in two phases from 1958 to 1967 and from 1967 to 1973 had opposed the government policies against poor. They hold a friendly discussion at a private law college here on Sunday under the aegis of Human Rights Forum (HRF).

As many as 42 senior citizens participated in the meet and discussed about proposed thermal power stations, nuclear power project, which would “pose threat to lives of people and environment in the district”. They expressed solidarity to the movements against proposed thermal and nuclear power projects. Irrespective their present political agendas and affiliations the fighters of Sayudha Poratam participated in the meeting, said the HRF State vice-president, KV Jagannadha Rao.

CPM State executive member Ch Tejeswara Rao, fighters of Sayudha Poratam P Chandramma, Jayamma, Govindarao and others attended. Later, they observed Black Day to mark demolition of Babri mosque on December 6 in 1992 and staged agitation at Seven Roads Junction in the evening in Srikakulam.
