Formulate schemes for uplift of SC, STs: Collector

Visakhapatnam: Collector N Yuvaraj has directed the district officials to formulate unique projects and schemes for the economic uplift of tribal people in the agency areas so as to utilise the budget of SC, ST Sub-Plan for the next financial year 2016-17.

At a meeting convened with all district officials here on Sunday, the Collector discussed about the implementation of SC, ST Sub-Plan funds in the district and the proposals to be submitted for the budget allocation in the next fiscal. Yuvaraj directed the officials to impart necessary training to tribals in skill development and construction activity to help improve their employment opportunities. About the individual toilets at Dalit habitations and tribal hamlets where construction was not possible, he suggested to build the toilets in group at a common area and allot each toilet to a single family by entrusting its maintenance too.

When enquired about electrification to all Dalit habitations in the district, the NEDCAP officials apprised that electrification work was completed in all Dalit habitations and electrification to individual houses would be completed shortly. They further told the Collector that solar power heaters were being fixed to all tribal welfare residential schools in the district and also providing solar panels to government departments.

District Public Relations Officer Ramesh was directed to chalk out proposals for distribution of traditional instruments and dresses to tribal artistes.

About the development works in the 10 adopted villages by public representatives in the district, Yuvaraj directed the officials to submit proposals categorising the works to be done with the State funds, which were not yet sanctioned. He also asked them to submit proposals for works to be done with the funds of corporate companies. He asked the special officers of Assembly segments to visit the adopted villages in their limits often giving priority for providing drinking water, greenery and toilets under Samsad Adarsh Grama Yojana.

The Collector assured that he would initiate steps to get permissions from the State-level departments to help clear pending works.

Among others, ITDA Project Officer M Harinarayanan, Additional Joint Collector D V Reddy, Additional Commissioners of GVMC Murty and Mohan Rao were present.
