Guntur: CPI (M) district secretary Pashyam Rama Rao has demanded the government to make people's issues part of ‘Janmabhoomi-Maa Vooru' scheme during the week-long programme.

Addressing a press conference at the party office here on Sunday, Rama Rao said that the Janmabhoomi platform should be used for distribution of house pattas, agriculture land pattas and for attending to people's problems. Otherwise, he said, the Janmabhoomi would serve no purpose.

He said that 20,000 poor families were living in huts pitched on government lands for several years but the government had not issued house pattas to them. About 400 villages in the district where dalits live do not have burial grounds, he said. The government should not use the land bank to donate lands for corporate companies.

Local leaders of the party B Sreenivasarao, K Nageshwararao and T Krishna Mohan were also present.
