Vijayawada: Noted physiotherapist Olos Gora on Saturday said that foot and ankle pains could be managed with physiotherapy. Speaking at the weekly health education programme of the Vasavya Nursing Home, Dr Olos Gora said that foot and ankle pains were common for the sports persons, besides those who walk and stand for many hours. Those having heavy body and suffering with obesity would also feel the foot and ankle pains, he said.

He said those going for morning walk should be careful with foot and ankle. The first step in the morning from the bed is always painful for many, he said and wanted them to use soft footwear to avoid pain. In case of nerves problem, he recommended electrical stimulation along with physiotherapy to reduce the pain. He wanted people to change footwear for children for every three months for better physical fitness particularly to walk.

Referring to children having problems to walk, Dr Olos Gora wanted them to give physiotherapy to correct any misplacement. Displacement of bones and nerves for the sportspersons or caused by accident could also be corrected through physiotherapy, he said. The Indian Medical Association former president, Dr G Samaram was in the chair. Noted gynecologist Maru was also present.
