Visakhapatnam: The Zilla Parishad High School, the biggest in the State in terms of students’ strength, will be a role model for other schools, said Minister for HRD Ganta Srinivasa Rao. He paid a visit to the school on Wednesday, along with MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao and district education officer D Venkatakrishna Reddy, to know about the facilities to be provided to the school.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was to visit the school during the three-day Partnership Summit, but could not make it due to busy schedule. The Minister said that the Chief Minister asked the officials to make the school to compete with the corporate schools in terms of infrastructure, standard of teaching and students’ performance. Around 2,442 students were enrolled in the school.

“This school would be a pilot project and all the facilities would be provided”, Srinivasa Rao said. He said CREDAI, Educel and CMR group have come forward to offer funds for the development of the school. Solar power and most modern laboratory would be established in the school along with additional buildings. The students would be divided into group and each group would be assigned the task of cleaning their respective classrooms.

The standard of health of the students would also be assessed periodically. Recently 65 girl students were tested for poor vision and all were given spectacles. Biometric system has been introduced in the school to keep track of attendance of the students and teachers, the Minister said. The Chandrapalem School was spruced with Rs 1 crore for the visit of the Chief Minister.
