TDP, YSRCP to lock horns in Srikakulam municipal corporation elections

Srikakulam: The BJP leaders are eyeing the mayor’s post of Srikakulam Municipal Corporation. Elections would be conducted after formation of divisions. It is learnt that the TDP is trying to protect its vote bank, while the YSRCP, too, is readying to lock horns with its
arch rival, while the Congress was facing leadership crisis.

The BJP leaders from Srikakulam are mounting pressure on its State leadership not to allot mayor post if it ties up with the TDP. During
the general elections in 2014 not even a single Assembly seat was allotted to the BJP out of 10 in the district though it had alliance with
the TDP. “In this backdrop, we are demanding mayor post”, said BJP State secretary Pydi Venugopalam and Srikakulam city unit
president Ch Venkateswara Rao.

Reisdents said: Major problem in Srikakulam town is drainage. Most of the colonies were inundated with rain and Nagavali river flood
water during rainy season . Proposed open drains are still remaining on papers. There is no water supply to the outskirts”. The TDP and
YSRCP leaders are trying to win the hearts of the people by assuring development of the town, while the Congress was facing leadership
crisis.
