Kakinada: Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has been supporting the cause of education through its various CSR activities such as building of school infrastructure, setting up Computer Aided Learning (CAL) centers, providing school kits to children in operational villages, providing Vidya volunteers, arranging summer camps and motivational lectures etc.

One such key initiative is Reliance Dhirubhai Ambani Protsaham Scheme, started 7 years ago, which helps poor and meritorious students pursue Intermediate education in corporate colleges in East Godavari district. Under the scheme, the entire fee of the student is being paid by RIL.

Including the current year’s list, the total number of beneficiaries under the scheme is about 1,800 students. This scheme is administered with the cooperation of Social Welfare Department and the Indian Red Cross Society.

On Tuesday, a cheque for Rs 84 lakh was handed over to Collector H Arun Kumar, towards current year’s contribution by RIL officials N Ravichandran, Head– Support Services M Nagi Reddy, GM–HR, N Ramana Murthy, Senior Lead CSR P Subrahmanyam.
