Visakhapatnam: The Marine Police teams have stepped up vigil in the sea to ensure foolproof security for the national and international guests attending to the International Fleet Review (IFR). With the help of modern boats along the coast, for which additional forces have been summoned from other Marine Police stations, the security made foolproof. The entire Rama Krishna Beach was fully under the scanner of Sniffer Dog and Bomb Squads summoned from neighbouring districts to conduct ‘Operation Search’ using latest detectors.
Meanwhile, teams of Special Police Force were on the job of scanning a distance of 4 km radius around the main venue by giving necessary safety instructions to the apartment and building owners. The owners were asked not to give shelter to strangers or to those moving under suspicious circumstances. Already inspection of residential buildings was completed and the police officials were chalking out an action plan to deploy forces coming from outside atop of the buildings along the beach from Monday.
The City Police too have set up 12 round-the-clock checkposts across the city to check each and every vehicle passing through under the supervision of DCP, ADCP and ACPs. There was also a strict vigil on all Star and other hotels and the managements were directed to keep a vigil on the movements of those tourists come from abroad. A Rehearsal Fleet Review will be held on February 2 by which time almost all warships from participating countries would reach.
Removal of Speed Breakers
The Special Protection Force (SPG), which visited the city to oversee the security arrangements, has instructed the GVMC officials to completely remove all the speed breakers on the 17-km long road on which President and Prime Minister convoys go to the beach from the airport. The municipal officials are on the job of removing the same. It further told the officials that the road should be in such a way that the convoys of President and Prime Minister reach the venue in no time from the airport.
