Vempalle: A bank cashier Moulali Rajiv is reportedly in the custody of Bala Thimmaiah Garipalle police station in Chakrayapeta mandal for siphoning of funds of gullible depositors of the Andhra Pragathi Grameena Bank. The tainted official was at large for the last ten months.

It is learnt that the police have already began questioning him about Rs 14 lakh cash he reportedly siphoned off. According to the sources, the Andhra Pragathi Grameena Bank cashier Moulali Rajiv had been working at Thimmaiah Gari Palle branch and went missing 10 months ago, when depositors complained to the manager about the non-deposit of money in their accounts.

At that time, the depositors also staged a dharna at the bank seeking recovery of their amount. A case had been registered and manhunt was launched to nab Moulali. The bank staff said that the money belonged to the DWCRA members and customers. When contacted, Bala Thimmaiah Gari Palle police were reluctant to ‘confirm’ his arrest and said they will give details within two days.
