Visakhapatnam: The situation around the Deccan Fine Chemicals is gradually returning to normalcy after the police withdrew half of its force on Friday.

The villagers strongly protested against the factory management following a fire accident that occurred at the warehouse on January 24. However, the police picketing is continuing.

General Manager K Lakshmipathi Raju and other representatives KSN Raju and Veera Reddy invited the village elders for talks in the morning.

Majority of elders demanded that they should be free from such a panic atmosphere of blasts or fires in future, or else they should be rehabilitated to elsewhere with all civic amenities, including pollution control initiatives. Company representatives pacified them that the unfortunate fire was caused due to a short circuit and the mishap had caused no pollution.

They assured that the company will take all appropriate measures of safety. Inspector K Venkata Rao, who was present at the police picket, said that the situation was under control, but the police picket will continue for some more time and will be withdrawing after assessing the situation.
