Stella girls have a gala time on sports day
Students of Maris Stella College participated with enthusiasm in a series of sporting activities organised as part of the annual sports day on the college campus on Saturday.
Vijayawada: Students of Maris Stella College participated with enthusiasm in a series of sporting activities organised as part of the annual sports day on the college campus on Saturday.
Participating as chief guest for the occasion, Municipal Commissioner G Veerapandian exhorted that students should take active participation in the sporting events other than their regular academics to develop physical fitness.
Sports have the capability to turn one in to a sensitive and responsible human being in society. He lauded the efforts of the management for imparting quality and value-based education and leadership qualities among students, besides encouraging them to take part in various extracurricular activities for their all-round development.
College Principal Kulrekha Mudartha said that sports day was best platform for students to exhibit their talent at the sporting event they were interested. The College management was committed to provide financial assistance to the students representing the college at district and state-level sporting events, she said.
Later, she along with chief guest had launched sports souvenir and inaugurated various sporting events to be held as part of the celebrations.
Prizes were distributed to the students who excelled in Kho-Kho, Kabbadi, Volleyball and Tennikoit. College physical director Sridevi, Kabbadi player Kalyani and faculty members were present.
