​Vijayawada: Noted surgical gastroenterologist N Venu on Saturday said that vegetables and fruits prevent formation of stones in gall bladder.

Speaking at the health education programme of Vasavya Nursing Home here, Dr Venu advocated people to eat bottle gourd, ash gourd, cluster beans, snake gourd, ridge gourd and alike to prevent formation of stones in gall bladder. He also favoured frequent consumption of fruits to prevent the ailment.

He said that gall bladder infection was possible in obesity cases and wanted regular physical exercise to keep the body under control. He added that gall bladder infection precedes sickness like fever, vomiting and pain in the right side of the stomach.

He wanted people to consult doctors whenever they found these symptoms. He said that treatment for the gall bladder stones at the early stage is simple. The Indian Medical Association former president, Dr G Samaram and gynecologist G Maru were present.
