Eluru: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu announced that the government would sanction scholarships to Kapu students from next year. He also disbursed loans to Kapu people and said for now Rs 192 crore had been disbursed to them. He was speaking at the Chandranna Swayam Upadhi, Kapu, Balija, Telaga and Ontari castes Runa Mela meeting held at indoor stadium here on Thursday afternoon. Eluru MLA Badeti Kota Ramarao (Bujji) presided over the public meeting.

Stating that the government was committed to the welfare of Kapu community in the State, he claimed that eradication of poverty was his government’s responsibility and added that during next year, the government will allot Rs 1,000 crore to Kapu Corporation. The Chief Minister said the government would take steps for benefitting the Kapus without disturbing the Backward Classes’ development. He claimed that the government will strive hard to remove disparities in the society.

“Poor people are not only limited to one caste. They are among all the castes. My government will eradicate the poverty in the State and work tirelessly until the financial disparities are eradicated in the society,” he said. “We already appointed Justice Manjunatha Commission to study on the BC reservations to Kapus in the State. On Wednesday, we appointed members to the commission and it has been given nine months time to submit its report,” he said.

The State is in financial crisis which is the main hurdle for the development but the government was making all efforts to overcome it by establishing industries, he added. Referring to recent agitations and allegations, Naidu alleged that some people were trying to provoke the people as the government was achieving results in terms of development and slammed opposition for making baseless allegations against him.

“Under the guise of agitation, those people are provoking violence. The East and West Godavari district stood for their peacefulness, sincerity and honesty and we never witnessed such violence which took place recently in these districts. These forces are obstructing the airport construction at Bhogapuram and instigating the farmers who are willing to give their lands.

We acquired 33,000 acres from the farmers voluntarily for the construction of capital. Some people tried to create obstacles for this,” the Chief Minister said in an angry tone. “If peace prevails, there will be development. In addition, at those places we will get the industries, tourism spots,’’ he said.

Naidu said that the government won’t spare the people who committed the economic offences in the State and assured the agents and customers of the AgriGold scam that government will take up all necessary steps to recover the money from the tainted company.

The Chief Minister assured that he will soon resolve the long pending Kolleru lake peoples’ problem. He also assured that in respect of the sand problem, he said the government will take steps to make available of sand to poor people. He ruled out exploitation for sand in future in the State.

Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Nimmakayala Chinarajappa said the Chief Minister has fulfilled the dream of the Kapu Community by setting up Kapu Corporation. He pointed out that the government sanctioned Rs 100 crore to corporation and also Rs 50 crore to Brahmin Corporation.

The Ministers Ch Ayyannapatrudu, Peethala Sujatha, Pydikondala Manikyala Rao, Kollu Ravindra, Kapu Corporation Chairman Chalamalasetty Ramanujaiah, Euru MP Maganti Venkateswara Rao, TTD Chairman Chadalavada Krisha Murthy, Whips Angara Ramamohan, Chintamaneni Prabhakar, MLAs participated in the programme. Earlier, the Chief Minister disbursed loans to Kapu people and said at present Rs 192 crore has been disbursed to them.
