DSP Lakshmi Naidu said on Wednesday that police have filed charge sheet against 23 accused in Mayor couple K Anuradha and Mohan murder case. He said it was an acid test for police to crack the case and arrest the accused. Lakshmi Naidu, who has been entrusted to investigate the case, said Chintu alias Chandrashekar was the main accused in double murder case.

Chittoor: DSP Lakshmi Naidu said on Wednesday that police have filed charge sheet against 23 accused in Mayor couple K Anuradha and Mohan murder case. He said it was an acid test for police to crack the case and arrest the accused. Lakshmi Naidu, who has been entrusted to investigate the case, said Chintu alias Chandrashekar was the main accused in double murder case.
Speaking to The Hans India here, the DSP said that the murders took place on November 17 in corporation office premises. He stated Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Home Minister N Chinna Rajappa and DGP J V Ramudu gave instructions to district police to apprehend the accused at the earliest.
The DSP added that District SP G Srinivas constituted ten special teams under his supervision to probe the case. Lakshmi Naidu said police were able to nab all the accused within short time. He gave credit to the SP for investigating the high-profile case successfully.
Speaking about law and order situation in the city, the DSP said police patrolling has been intensified to control anti-social activities. He noted police personnel have take up door-to-door survey to know people’s perception towards police so that friendly policing can be implemented.
With the support of elected representatives, police were able to bring down crime rate, he said adding that more priority has been given to safeguard women and neglected sections of the society. He stated that instructions were given to Station House Officers to probe cases without yielding to any pressures.
The DSP said steps have been initiated to register cases under the SC, ST Atrocities Act if injustice is done to Dalits. It is learnt that the State government is planning to recommend Lakshmi Naidu’s name for Presidential Award which may be confirmed officially within 15 days.
