Eluru: The Intermediate first year examinations started on Wednesday in West Godavari district peacefully. On the first day, the students attended Telugu Paper I, Sanskrit Paper I, Hindi Paper I, Urdu Paper I all over the district. Out of 35,921 students, 34,389 students attended the examinations. As many as 1,532 candidates did not turn up to the centres. No malpractices took place in the district on the first day, according to the Regional Inspection Officer of Intermediate board M A Khadar.

Meanwhile, Joint Collector Pulipati Koteswara Rao visited the examination centres in Eluru city in the morning. He visited St Theresas College centre and inspected the progress of examinations.

Speaking on the occasion, the Joint Collector said as a precautionary measure, Section 144 has been promulgated at the examination centres. Special flying squads were also conducting checks in various examination centres to curb the mass-copying and malpractices. The examination on the first day went off peacefully in 35 centres, he said.

He said in St Theresa College, students from 17 colleges attended the examination. This time too, the jumbling system has been introduced for the examination.

Chief Superintendent Mahalakshmi explained the Joint Collector about the attendance in the centre. She told that out of 527 students 517 students attended in one block and in another 515 students attended for 530 total students.

The Eluru RDO Namboori Tej Bharath and others followed the Joint Collector. The MLC and retired principal R Surya Rao (RSR master) also visited the centre and observed the procedure being implemented in the centres. He also enquired the students about the facilities in the centres.
