A 12-member team of MLAs and MLCs headed by State Assembly Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao will tour Maharashtra to study the successful implementation of the nutrition programme in that State. Hyderabad: A 12-member team of MLAs and MLCs headed by State Assembly Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao will tour Maharashtra to study the successful implementation of the nutrition programme in that State. This was decided during a meeting with UNICEF representatives Lakshmi Bhavani and Prosun Sen here on Tuesday.

Responding to the request made by the UNICEF representatives the speaker has in principal agreed to tour on April 18 and 20. As part of the programme, the study team would visit the Nutrition Mission office in Mumbai and will hold discussion with the director general of the mission

Similarly, on next day, the study group in three teams would visit Aurangabad the ISO-certified Anganwadi centres and interact with the beneficiaries to take stock of the implementation of the programme and how to implement the same in the State.

Underlining that lack of nutrition will have a multiple effect on people along with appreciating the efforts of Unicef across the world for promoting nutrition programmes, the Speaker stressed on the need for governments and non-government organisations to move hand-in-hand to make such programmes successful.
