Kuderu (Anantapur): District Collector Kona Sasidhar visited Cholasamudram village in Kuderu mandal on Tuesday and interacted with NREGS workers engaged in digging a farm pond. The Collector asked NREGS workers to work from 6 am in the morning to 11 am so save themselves from heat wave conditions and for early completion of the works in a cool climate.

The workers told the Collector that two groups of NREGS teams are presently digging the pond. Each team has 10 NREGS workers. The Collector asked the project director Nagabushanam to organise temporary make shift shelters for the workers so that they could relax in-between. The farmer concerned told the collector that he would fill the pond with bore-water so that the mango plantations could be watered manually in the event of disruption to power supply. This would also facilitate recharging of the bore-well, he added. The Collector expressed the hope that the 1 lakh farm ponds would help in re-charging of all bore-wells and help change the face of the drought-stricken district.
