Over 6,000 candidates appeared for the JEE Mains exam from north coastal Andhra and East Godavari districts on Sunday. Most of them reached the city by Saturday night itself.

Visakhapatnam: Over 6,000 candidates appeared for the JEE Mains exam from north coastal Andhra and East Godavari districts on Sunday. Most of them reached the city by Saturday night itself. The Government Railway Police (GRP) deployed their helpline desks at the railway station to guide the candidates while railway authorities have opened extra ticket counters for their return journey on Sunday.


The city police made necessary bandobust arrangements at the test centers and the RTC authorities plied special buses to and fro all important junctions, railway station and the RTC bus complex. RTC Regional Manager G Sudhesh Kumar informed that special services were operated from Kottavalasa, Simhachalam, Chodavaram, Tagarapuvalasa, Bhimili, Gajuwaka, Duvvada and Steel Plant area to the test centers.

He said additional services were also plied from Yelamanchili, Paderu, Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Rajahmundry and Kakinada in shifting the candidates to the test centers and back. Meanwhile, city unit of Sathya Sai Seva Samithi, as a part of its service activity, made necessary arrangements including erection of pandals with seating arrangement, water and butter milk facility to about 1,000 persons including candidates and attendants came to the local Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vihar School test centre in the MVP Colony.

The attendants appreciated the service of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Samithi volunteers in the sultry weather. Even the police on bandobust duty have a relief with the noble arrangements. Convener of Sri Sathya Sai City Seva Samithi P R S N Naidu and the State media co-ordinator Dwaram Swamy monitored the arrangements personally. The Vignan Vidyalaya at Timmapuram on the city outskirts also made necessary water and food arrangements to all the 360 candidates and their parents on a grand scale.
