Vijayawada: Scores of Youth Congress activists, under the leadership of President Devineni Avinash, participated in a relay hunger strike at Dharna Chowk, here on Monday, demanding that the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu reveal his course of action to be followed by the TDP in providing employment opportunities to the educated youth in the State.
Speaking on the occasion, Avinash alleged that Chief Minister who promised youth empowerment through providing one job to every household in the State was not pursuing the issue seriously. “Not even a single educated youth was provided stipend in the last 23 months’ TDP government,” he hit out.
He said recently the government had stated that a notification would be issued for 20,000 posts under various government departments out of 1.83 lakh vacant posts. However, he said, citing a survey, there are about 20 lakh unemployed youth in the State and were struggling due to find livelihood and migrating to other parts in the country. “If the Chief Minister is already committed to the welfare of, he should fill vacant posts. He should also lead an all-party delegation to the Prime Minister over the special category status,” he demanded. City Congress President Malladi Vishnu, PCC leaders Akula Srinivas, Meesala Rajeswara Rao, Kolanukonda Shivaji, Naraharisetti Narasimha Rao, DCC president Kadiyala Butchi Babu and others also took part in the relay hunger strike.
