Sri Durmukhi Nama Samvatsara Ugadi Mahotsavam began on an auspicious note at Srisaila Devasthanam on Tuesday. Ankurarpana for the five-day fete was held at the temple in the morning. Temple priests, Vedic scholars and Executive Officer KV Sagar Babu participated in the ritual performed marking the commencement of Telugu New Year festivities.

Special pujas were performed to the presiding deities. Bhringi Vahana Seva was held in the evening. A large number of pilgrims from neighbouring Karnataka visited the temple. The Devasthanam made elaborate arrangements to meet the pilgrim rush during Ugadi Mahotsavam which concludes on April 9.
