Amalapuram: Come elections, political leaders follow the trail of people wherever they are whether they are working in fields, factories and offices seeking their support. Once the elections are over, it is the people who make rounds to offices of elected representatives to get things done.

But, MLA of Amalapuram Aitabattula Anandbabu begs to differ. He has been implementing a novel programme titled Manavooru-Mana MLA for the past 10 months. On Tuesday, he visited Kodurupadu of Allavaram mandal.

As part of the programme, which he had kick started from Reddypalli, he spends the whole day in a village to have a good grip on people’s problems. So far, he covered 10 villages and three municipal wards under it.

On Tuesday, he went to Kodurupadu at 6 am and started interacting with agricultural workers. Villagers were overwhelmed at MLA coming to their doorstep braving hot sun. On minor problems, he issued orders to officials then and there and identified the problems that warranted devolution of funds and jotted them in a note book. He interacted with women’s thrift groups and held a meeting for them. He sensitised them government’s schemes and development programmes.

Later, he inaugurated a paddy purchase center in the village. He vowed to submit a report to the government after visiting 60 village panchayats and 30 wards in his constituency. He vowed to solve at least 50 per cent of the problems in the next three years.
