A large-scale, but peaceful dharna would be staged at Srisailam dam on April 23 with the participation of over 400 senior Congress leaders and farmers from eight districts to awaken the government from its slumber, he said.

Srisailam Project (Kurnool): Former Union Minister Kotla Suryaprakash Reddy has accused Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu of not being able to quench the thirst of the people of Rayalaseema region, who he said have been facing acute crisis for drinking water.
Coming down heavily on the Chief Minister at a media meet held at Irrigation department’s guest house here on Monday, he noted that water level in the Srisailam project receded expressing anguish at the State getting caught in the teeth of severe drought. The ruling TDP under the leadership of Chandrababu Naidu remained in a state of inertia at a time severe injustice is being caused to Andhra Pradesh, he said expressing surprise over the posture adopted by the TDP.
It could be clearly deciphered that Chandrababu Naidu had mortgaged the interests of the State to Telangana CM K Chandrashekar Rao to wriggle himself out of the note-for-vote scam, he alleged.
If the ruling TDP did not get out of its deep slumber, the people would have to starve for want of food and water, industries would face the threat of closure for want of water ruling out scope for new industries, he said expressing apprehension over the possible desertification of the State.
The condition of the State would be miserable, he said. In the Krishna Delta, ayacut under the Nagarjuna Sagar Project would not get a single drop of water because of the drought. Moreover, the Telugu-Ganga, Galeru-Nagari, Handri-Neeva, SRBC, Velugodu projects would be rendered useless, he feared.
Ignoring everything else, the Chief Minister is bothered about new state capital, he pooh-poohed. A large-scale, but peaceful dharna would be staged at Srisailam dam on April 23 with the participation of over 400 senior Congress leaders and farmers from eight districts to awaken the government from its slumber, he said.
Srisailam Assembly constituency in-charge Pabana, Nandyal Congress leaders BY Ramaiah, MLC Sudhakar Babu, Kurnool District Congress Party general secretary Peddareddy Narayana Reddy and others were present at the press conference.
