  • Two women file a case in the court claiming they are in possession of the land
  • Sangham tahsildar refutes claims and says will submit facts to the court

Two women from the village (P Sriyuthamma and her mother-in-law Srinivasamma) – Padamatapalem - where the land was allocated, filed a case in court stating that they are in possession of the said land.

It is being said that the district administration is to be blamed, as they failed to check the antecedents before allocating the land. It should be noted that Atmakur RDO MV Ramana personally handed over the documents of the land to Malli Subbamma, mother of Mastan Babu, during republic day celebrations this year.

Sources said the land was allocated to one I Polireddy, about 100 years ago in early 1900 but some 30 years later he handed over the land back to the then British government citing the land was filled with sand due to floods to River Penna. Since then, the lands have been under control of revenue department.

“According to pattadar books the lands are in the name of Sriyutamma and Srinivasamma. However, in the Dyglat (record with revenue department that shows the possession details of the land) the lands are under inam category,” they added.

It is said that various persons have enjoyed the possession of the land by creating fake documents and revenue officials even said the same when asked about the veracity of the claims of the petitioners. Speaking to The Hans India, Sangam tahsildar R Ramanjaneyulu said, “We will submit the facts to the court. The petitioners never had possession of the land.”
