Tirupati: Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council Assurance Committee will recommend the government to take steps for filling the vacant posts in Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) including its educational and health institutions for their effective functioning, committee chairman G Muddu Krishnama Naidu has said.

Speaking to presspersons after the committee meeting with TTD officials, Naidu said that TTD was running as many as 28 health and educational institutions including hospitals and colleges as part of its social service activities. “As the vacancies in TTD are brought to the notice of the committee, it has been resolved to take the issue to the government for follow-up action,” he said.

Naidu said that the committee also sought the TTD to focus on promoting spiritualism in villages and wanted it to construct temples particularly in SC, ST colonies in the 13 districts across the State where there are no temples, on the priority basis. It also sought for the appointment of TTD trained youth as priests for conducting the daily rituals in the shrines in those colonies.

He said that the committee also suggested TTD to improve facilities for the common pilgrims in Tirumala, particularly increasing accommodation facilities. Earlier, APLC chairman Chakrapani said that the meeting was intended to review the fulfillment of the assurances given to legislators in response to public petitions with regard to TTD and also its fund's utilisation and activities. APLC Assurance Committee members and TTD officials were present on the occasion.
