Retired IAS Officer and former Collector of  West Godavari  Vandana Durga Das has been awarded Degree of Doctor of  Philosophy in management studies for his thesis \"Socio-Economic Empowerment of Women through self-help-groups : A case study of  West Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh”.

Visakhapatnam: Retired IAS Officer and former Collector of West Godavari Vandana Durga Das has been awarded Degree of Doctor of Philosophy in management studies for his thesis "Socio-Economic Empowerment of Women through self-help-groups : A case study of West Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh”.

In-charge Vice-Chancellor Prof E A Narayana handed over the proceedings to Dr Vandana Durga Das in the university here on Tuesday. Dr Durga Das, who has implemented several empowerment programmes for the women, found in his study, that the women involved in the self-help groups were more focussed and improved their economic and social status in the society.

Dr Durga Das said that there has been tremendous impact on the life style of the self-help-group women and they developed access to the administration and involved in the development activities by becoming members of panchayat and other local bodies.
