Srinivasulu along with other experts addressed a seminar on ‘Opportunities in Plastics’ organised by Andhra Chamber of Commerce and Industry Federation (APCCIF) at their office, here on Tuesday. Stating that plastic is extensively used in many sectors, he said that demand for the same has been increasing exponentially over the years.

“India needs 11.6 lakh skilled labour in plastic industry. Gujarat and Maharashtra are leading in the plastic sector. We are confident that industry will be developed in Andhra Pradesh in the coming years,” he added.

District Industries Centre (DIC) general manager G Rajendra Prasad emphasised on the need for cluster approach for the development of plastic industry in the district. He said the DIC will furnish information to the applicants on installation of units, bank subsidies and single desk policy.

State Bank of India relationship manager Praveen Kumar Reddy said plastic industry is booming and will have a bright future in the State.

“It is one of the important employment generation industries in the country,” he added. Indian Oil Corporation senior officer Garapati Santosh Kumar stated that the use of plastic is increasing in health care, automobiles, electronics and other industries.

APCCIF president Muthavarapu Murali Krishna, Reliance Industries general manager, A Thayumanavan, Navyandhra Plastic Industry Association president Muppalla Nageswara Rao and others spoke on the occasion.
