Visakhapatnam: CPM city secretary B Ganga Rao criticised Chief Secretary of State Government S P Tucker who announced here on Saturday that the government would give full support to builders who construct Satellite Townships in the city by offering valuable lands.

Coming down heavily on Tucker for saying there was a huge demand for housing at Madhurawada, Atchyutapuram, and other industrial areas, the CPM leader cautioned the government against offering valuable lands to private realtors in the name of Satellite Townships.

He alleged that no private realtor had taken up EWS or LIG housing for the last 25 years to help poorer sections. As per the GO 245 issued in 2012, at least 20 percent of the land to be laid out by a government or private layouts must be earmarked for EWS or LIG housing which was not implemented so far.

After obtaining lands from Vuda, private layout companies including Panorama Hills, Row Housing, K S R Lay-Out, Panchavati and Land Pooling not implemented the GO. Alleging that the statement of Chief Secretary would encourage private realtors, the CPM leader demanded that the government roll back its proposal.
