She said that Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalitha, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee and sports stars Saina Nehwal, Koneru Hampi, Karanam Malleshwari and other eminent personalities in other fields had come up in life due to education. “Education empowers individuals and thereby contribute to societal development,” she added.

While stating that the Women Commission would protect the interests of women, she urged married couples to shed their egos to lead a happy married life. Mothers-in-law should realise that they were once daughters-in-law, she pointed out.

The Nallari Rajeshwari Initiative Foundation which organised the seminar also gave away awards to journalists.
Several print, electronic media and photo journalists were awarded by Raja Kumari for their contribution towards journalism.
