Jyeshta maasam: Devotees make a beeline for temples

​Pithapuram: A large number of devotees thronged the major temples in the district and performed special pujas in all to mark Jyeshta maasam reckoned to be auspicious.

Marking the occasion, priests Dattu and Veerababu decorated Goddess Umadevi’s idol with flowers and performed Abhishekam at Umaramalingeswara Swamy Temple in Gollaprolu mandal.

Lalita Sahasra Parayanam’ was organised in moon light. The crowd was unprecedented and a separate queue for special darshan' was as lengthy as the one for dharma darshan. For many pilgrims, the wait
extended to almost two hours.
