Vijayawada: The State government and district authorities are leaving no stone unturned to make the Krishna Pushkaralu, a most memorable event, for the devotees who throng the city to attend the holy event to be held next month.

While safety and mobility of the devotees are being given top priority in the list of arrangements, officials are also looking forward to organise each and every event across these 12 days in a large scale. The Pushakara Harati for River Krishna is going to be a sight to behold, if the arrangements by the temple authorities are anything to go by.

Elaborate arrangements are being made at the Pavitra Sangamam (a place where River Krishna and River Godavari meet) to offer the Nitya Harati to the River Goddess in nine ways. Brass Navaharatulu, each weighing about 1.5 kg to 2 kg at a height of 17 inches was made with a budget of Rs 18.5 lakh.
The haratis were already handed over to the temple authorities on Wednesday.

They are Nakshatra harati, Pancha harati, Chandra harati, Surya harati, Simha harati, Kumbha harati, Naga harati, Omkara harati and Nandi harati manufactured by Sri Sarvani Industries Arts and Crafts of the city.

The arrangements are going to be more elaborate than what the State government has deployed for organising the Godavari pushkaralu. Two large punts are being constructed at the Sangameshwar to cater to the programme. Meanwhile, it is learnt that the harati programme would be held by the temple committee along with DVR Foundation.

The grandeur of river worship would be more than what was on display during the Godavari pushkaralu. While speaking to The Hans India, temple PRO Achyutha Ramaiah said, “We are still in the stage of planning and proposals for all types of arrangements are under progress. There will be a Coordination Committee meeting with the District Collector to come to a conclusion.

Revealing anything about the arrangements related to the Krishna Pushkara Harati at this stage would be inappropriate.’’ The government is keen on continuing the harati programme even after the pushkaralu are over and make it a regular affair.
