MADA office to be set up in August

Vijayawada: The Krishna district administration is gearing up for setting up Machilipatnam Area Development Authority (MADA) administrative office in Machilipatnam by next month to start land pooling for construction of Machilipatnam port and industrial corridor. It may be recalled the State cabinet in its meeting two weeks ago decided to get 14,000 acres land in Machilipatnam through the land pooling for construction of Machilipatnam port and construction of industrial corridor.

In this backdrop, the government has intensified efforts for setting up of the MADA administrative office in Machilipatnam. Minister for Excise and Welfare of Backward Classes Kollu Ravindra on Sunday inspected a building at the district collectorate for setting up of MADA office. The new building is being constructed by agriculture department for setting up district head office.

The Minister Kollu Ravindra after inspecting the building said it will be sufficient for setting up of MADA office. He said a meeting hall can be constructed in the first floor of the building to host meetings. He said the district administration is planning to inaugurate the MADA office next month and staff is gradually joining MADA.

He said he would speak to Agriculture Minister Prattipati Pullarao to get the new building at the district collectorate for inauguration of MADA office. The Minister talking to local reporters on the occasion said the government would use 14,000 acres land for construction of port and industrial corridor and will not use for any other purposes.

Kollu Ravindra made it clear that the government would not acquire one lakh acres land in Machilipatnam as the Opposition parties were alleging. He said only 14,000 acres land would be taken through the land pooling and compensation would be paid on par with the Rajadhani farmers in Amaravati region. District revenue office P Saibabu and other officials present on the occasion.
