Prof Nageswara Rao assumes charge as AU V-C
Professor in Analytical Chemistry and Director for School of Chemistry and Associate Director (Admissions) of Andhra University Gollapalli Nageswara Rao assumed charge as Vice-Chancellor of Andhra University here on Sunday.
Visakhapatnam: Professor in Analytical Chemistry and Director for School of Chemistry and Associate Director (Admissions) of Andhra University Gollapalli Nageswara Rao assumed charge as Vice-Chancellor of Andhra University here on Sunday.
He received official orders only on Sunday noon and was congratulated by In-charge V-C Prof E A Narayana and Registrar Prof V Umamaheswara Rao on the occasion.
Prof Nageswara Rao, while thanking Governor E S L Narasimhan, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao for pinning high hopes on him, told reporters that he would fulfil their aspirations in developing the varsity to stand in the world map with the help of teaching and non-teaching staff. He informed that first priority would be quality teaching and research work and to protect the image of the nine decade-old varsity with commitment and hard work.
“Those studying in the university must feel that they have learnt good knowledge when once they leave the campus. An academic action plan will also be chalked out to train Telugu medium students by imparting English language skills as the university has all basic infrastructure facilities, which should be utilised properly,” he observed.
Prof Nageswara Rao secured B Sc from the AU in 1978, M Sc (Chemistry) in 1981, M Phil in 1985 and Ph D in 1991 and joined the varsity as Assistant Professor in 1989. He was elevated to Associate Professor post in 1998 and as Professor in 2006. He has many awards and rewards to his credit. Among others, Prof C V Raman, Prof P S Avadhani, Prof E N Dhanamjaya Rao, Prof M Prasada Rao, Prof Koteswara Rao, Prof Hariprakash, Prof D V R Murthy, Dr Challa Ramakrishna and others felicitated Prof Nageswara Rao.
