Visakhapatnam: Engineering students of GITAM University exhibited rare skills in designing at Auto Desk Design Now Competition on Tuesday.

The designs include self-balanced motor bikes, high speed cars suitable to Indian roads, band drive, which facilitates to check the time, temperature, light, including 256 GB information storage capacity, light weight solar green metro rail to suit smart cities, new age submarines, ANT Copters and safety helmets to mention a few.

This is the first of its kind event in Andhra Pradesh organised jointly by GITAM University Mechanical Engineering Department with reputed organisation Autodesk. The budding engineers successfully produced around 113 new age machines.

While inaugurating the design exhibition at GITAM Knowledge Resource Centre, Vice-Chancellor Prof MS Prasada Rao appreciated the students for manifesting their talent and suggested to utilise the technology to solve the community problems.

Autodesk India Private Limited India SAARC Education Lead Anand Pillai said that students can create amazing designs with a modern, easy-to- use, powerful industrial and mechanical design tool like Fusion 360, and hone their skills to become tomorrow’s engineers, product designers and industrial designers.

He advised the students to find solutions to community problems using the new technology. He also suggested that the student community must learn the things through project-based learning. The Vice-Chancellor distributed prizes to best designers.

Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof K Sivarama Krishna, Registrar Prof M Potharaju, Autodesk India Private Limited technical expert Dr Ramesh Pudale and others participated in the programme.
