Vijayawada: RTC Vice-Chairman and Managing Director N Sambasiva Rao who is set to take over as DGP on Saturday, described the conduct of Krishna Pushkaralu as “big challenge”, and providing security and transportation facilities to lakhs of devotees as a major task.

He is focusing on ‘Police-Public Partnership’ (PPP) and developing technology-based policing concepts to deliver better services for the benefit of devotees by gathering feedback from public using a mobile app.

He expressed confidence that they would perform better with the coordination of other departments, including Revenue and Endowment. Speaking to The Hans India on Friday, Sambasiva Rao outlined some of his plans for the smooth conduct of Krishna Pushkaralu.

We have learnt some experiences from Godavari Pushkaralu, especially on arrangements relating to ferrying devotees and controlling crowd. Krishna Pushkaralu is a big challenge. We will do our best in coordination with other government departments,” he said.

Sambasiva Rao said that RTC would run 2,450 buses from Krishna rural, Vijayawada city, Guntur, East and West Godavari districts. Besides, another 400 buses would be arranged in case of any emergency.

The police department would deploy 33,000 men from five police units for the purpose and they would work in three shifts. To receive feedback easily, he said that a mobile application was being developed and it would be ready by the end of this month. The RTC MD said he is personally supervising the mobile app. “Public can send feedback with one click once the app is made available,” he said.
