Water level in Srisailam dam measures at 788.4 feet. It requires an additional 66 feet of water so as to enable pilgrims to have a holy dip in the river.  Almatti dam received inflows of 122 tmcft on account of heavy rains in Maharashtra and Karnataka. The Narayanapur reservoir received inflows up to 34 tmcft. The Jurala project in Telangana is likely to get 3 tmcft of inflows.

Srisailam: With Pushkaralu to River Krishna hardly a month away, water level in the river at Sangameshwaram and Srisailam in Kurnool district is hardly sufficient to meet bathing needs of thronging multitudes for the event. The condition of the river in Vijayawada and Nagarjunasagar is even worse.

Under such a scenario, officials are worried about what to do if there are no adequate inflows into the river in Andhra Pradesh. The Srisailam dam is yet to receive inflows from Jurala reservoir.

In a meeting, the Krishna River Management Board, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States sought 16 tmcft and 7 tmcft of water respectively to meet their needs. The officials are scratching their heads as there is no scope for Srisailam
reservoir receiving 66 feet of water.
