Guntakal (Anantapur): IT and Information Minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy participated in a massive rally dubbed as ‘Vanam Manam’ on Thursday, to bring awareness on the green movement launched by Chief Minister
N Chandrababu Naidu.

Participating in a huge rally along with 6,000 students, who marched through the main streets of the town, Palle stated that Friday would be a historic day as one crore trees will be planted throughout the State.

About 10.5 lakh trees will be planted in the district on Friday. He said that the Chief Minister is determined to transform the district drought-free.

The Minister said that trees absorb carbon dioxide and supply oxygen to us, he added. If the district is to be changed into a drought free, 20 crores trees will have to be planted, the Minister stressed.

Local MLA Jitender Goud appealed to the people to participate in Vanam-Manam programme en-mass on Friday and place the town on top in the district. Government Chief Whip Kalva Srinivas and municipal chairperson Aparna also participated in the rally.
