Visakhapatnam: General Secretary of Forum for Development of North Andhra A Aja Sarma appealed to the district administration and the GVMC authorities to plant medicinal, fruit-bearing and shade-giving plants, along with ornamental saplings, in the ‘Vanam-Manam’ programme on July 29.
Hailing the decision to plant 20 lakh saplings in the district on a single day on July 29, Aja Sarma in a representation on Wednesday suggested that instead of planting the same variety of plants, choose saplings like neem, tulasi, kumkudu, cashew, mango, jackfruit, neredu, almond, guava and tamrind plants.
