Tirupati: TDP leaders intensified their protest to press the Centre to accord Special Category Status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh on Friday. TDP senior leader and MLC Gali Muddukrishnama Naidu along with party activists staged a novel protest against the Centre denying Special Category Status by sweeping a road in Nagari town, 55 km from here on Friday. Later, speaking to media, Naidu particularly targeted Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitely and Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu on SCS issue and criticised them for forgetting their own demand which they made in the Parliament during the debate on AP Reorganisation Act two years ago.

“Jaitely who even cannot win a ward member seat, is now directing the Centre to ignore SCS while Venkaiah Naidu being a Telugu instead of striving to see the State gets SCS, is keeping mum,’’ he averred. Muddukrishnama Naidu wanted the opposition particularly the YSR Congress Party and its chief to join the Chief Minister in the struggle for the State to get Special Status. The opposition parties instead of waging the fight on their own should join with the ruling party to realise Special Category Status in the interests of the people of our State, he said.
