Tirupati: TTD Trust Board chairman Dr Ch Krishnamurthy and TTD Executive Officer (EO) Dr D Sambasiva Rao took part in the Balaji Institute of Surgery, Research and Rehabilitation for the Disabled (BIRRD) Trust meeting held in the hospital premises on Tuesday evening.

Speaking on the occasion, the chairman said it is great to have a number one orthopedic hospital in entire Asia serving the needy free of cost.

Later, the EO said, apart from the seven operation theatres, eight more are coming up in the new Outpatient Department (OPD) block along with fifty beds in the hospital.

“The new operation theatres will become operational from September. The patients, who have been waiting for their turn of surgery till 2020, will be operated in a year's time now,” he asserted.

The EO said that the TTD has given Rs 40 crore towards the construction of the OPD block and is giving a grant of Rs 25 crore every year. “We are ready to support in the interests of needy,” he added. BIRRD Director Dr Jagdish, TTD board members AV Ramana and Sudhakar Yadav were also present.

Earlier, Krishnamurthy along with Sambasiva Rao released the promo CD on Krishna Pushkaralu at Tirumala. Speaking on the occasion, chairman complimented EO and Tirumala JEO Srinivasa Raju for the extraordinarily arrangements being made by TTD for the river festival in Vijayawada.

He said that the Krishna Pushkaralu ‘Shoba Yatra’ will take off from Tirumala on August 3 and reach Vijayawada on August 6. The TTD replica temple will be opened on August 7.
