Speaking on the occasion, Vijay Mohan said about 1,000 cusecs of water would be released for kharif during the initial period and the same would be enhanced in the later stages depending on the inflows. He said he would arrange for a separate meeting with the Chief Minister on the issue of pending projects during the latter’s visit to Kurnool soon.
He assured that he would strive to bring the allotted share of water to the district. Stating that adequate staff have been deployed on the canal banks for monitoring the misuse of water, he added that the staff have been provided with vehicles for their convenience.

Panyam MLA Gouru Charitha said the water to Sagar has to be released only after maintaining the water level at 854 tmcft in Srisailam Dam failing which the farmers of Rayalaseema will face a shortage. Ayacut farmers are not getting sufficient water said Alur MLA G Jayaram and urged the Collector to resolve the issue.
