Additional police forces were deployed to regulate the movement of pilgrims. Pilgrims had come from the neighbouring States, including Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. She also said foolproof arrangements were made by temple authorities to meet any eventuality. The pilgrims were in the queue lines from midnight after taking holy dip at Pushkar ghats.
The temple had netted an income of Rs 22.75 lakh in form of offerings on Monday. About Rs 3.45 lakh income was netted on sale of Rs 300 tickets, Rs 50,500 on sale of Rs 500 tickets, Rs16.86 lakh on sale of Prasadam.
Surya Kumari said Rs1.56 lakh was netted through Bhavani prasadam, Rs 34.875 on Kesakhandanasala and Rs 1,000 through Addala Mandapam. The temple arranged Annadanam for 25,000 devotees at Srungeri Maha Mandapam.
To meet the needs of staggering number of pilgrims, voluntary organisations too pitched in by distributing water packets. As many as 10 lakh water packets have been distributed in last three days, the executive officer said. She asked devotees not to come to Indrakeeladri with footwear.
